Helvetiorum Fidei Ac Virtuti

I am an awful Devmom.

Thu Apr 9, 2009, 6:43 PM
  • Mood: Daily Needs
  • Listening to: Bailamos- don't judge me!
  • Reading: Eclipse... still...
  • Watching: My art contest on Subby.
  • Playing: Subby.
  • Eating: The inside of my cheek
  • Drinking: AZ Green Tea
I hate uploading to Dev anymore.

Does that make me an awful Deviant? More than likely. My professors frighten me with stories of intellectual theft and future publishing problems though, so I try not to update on here too much. In fact, I'm tempted to take stuff down. Paranoia will destroy ya...

Anyway, I'm not doing much at the moment.

I'm concentrating more on my jewelry at the moment- Cecil and Dale brought back some wonderful beads back from Tucson for me and I've been going nuts. It's beautiful stuff; glossy onyx rounds, leopard skin jasper squares, some great amethyst of various shapes, and these fantastic little carnelian flame looking things. I'm been making some fun stuff with them too- I can't wait to get a decent camera and do a little photoshoot. The more I think about it, the more I'm really tempted to buy a commercial lightbox. All my listings on Etsy went inactive and I'm reluctant to renew them until I get better pictures.

Writing wise, I'm working on a spoof on epic fantasy, though like I said, I'm paranoid about letting too much slip. Maybe I'll turn into that miserly old psychotic author who locks people out of the house. I think it'd be quite funny, actually.

I'm also in the midst of a possible move back home, slated to take place near the end of the summer, unless something AMAZING (aka 10-12 dollars an hour)opens up in the J-town area between now and then and moving becomes a higher priority. For now, though, I'm trying to schedule around Pennsic, since I usually make $500 plus expenses for a week's work. And besides the fact that it's a LOT of fucking fun.

And that's the long and short of it, Dev.

thanx for faven:D ...liked the movie?

You bet! Saw it thrice already... I just love Landa's characters. Really hoping Cristoph Waltz gets more stateside roles... Melanie Laurent, too. Think it's my fave Tarantino ever. ;)

Waltz WAS pretty damn awesome! and for a time he was my fave nazi.....however, the more times i watched the movie (also 3) Major Dieter Hellstrom (August Diehl) grew on me - the one whose "nazi balls" stiglitz shot off - fave bar scene ever:D ..and so now HE is my fave nazi (character and acting wise:)) ......."favourite nazi" that sounds so wrong:O_o:
:iconexacerbate:
It kind does, but I know exactly what you mean. Hellstrom was great to watch- I'd had 3 German classes and been to Germany before I saw the movie, so when I saw Hicox's fingers go up to order the whiskeys, I was like "...Damn, sir." There was no way Hellstrom was NOT gonna bust him on it! I also love in the luncheon scene where Goebbels is all "DX RECORD STATES I MAY NOT MOVE MY PREMIERE." and Hellstrom's all "...Duly noted. -dismissed-"

He provides a good counterpart to Landa, too... He kinda helps to show you how morally gray Landa is, because obviously, Hellstrom's the thorough Nazi who gives us what a 'ideal' Nazi is supposed to be.

Oh Christ, I think my movie criticism training's showing through.

But yeah, loved the Nazis in the movie- by far the most entertaining people to watch! Although nothing will beat my absolute favorite scene in the movie where Landa cracks up after hearing von Hammersmark's story about mountain climbing... I just love the expression on Donowitz's face.

All right. Now that I've left a book, I think I should get to class, haha!

your training paid off, that was interestingly insightful:D - deffinately the ideal nazi...and i love how tarantinos villains are always likable and not just the "bad guy" in the movie - oh yeah Donny's big confused grin:rofl:
